I can’t believe I haven’t shared this song with CC365 yet. It was on the most recent episode of The Revolution, and I so could have sworn that I’d released it as a single track. But I searched, and I hadn’t.. and oh you have to hear this.
I found this on Archive.org, and it’s one of my favorite finds all year. I’ve not found anything else from this group, but I really hope that they are still putting out sugary sweetness like this. Someone once said, and I think it was my brother in a fit of drunken wisdom, that “If you’ve been there, so has Bob Dylan. And you know what? He’s written a song about it, too”.
You can’t say that about Your Heart Breaks. The one EP I can find is really more of a single, with only two songs. The other track is great, and you should seek and listen to that as well, but the point I’m trying feebly to make is… You haven’t been where “NOLA” is.. at least not most of you. That however doesn’t stop it from evoking memories of places and situations you’ve never been in, it doesn’t stop you from wishing that you “couldn’t stop speeding, through the hills of Kentucky”.
I’ve sped through the hills of Kentucky, albeit alone, and it’s worth writing a song about.
Note: I did find this.. at Romeg Records, and I think this may be the girl who played Banjo on this track. Alas, there are no mp3’s available and no real contact info. Maybe, She’ll see this, realize that all us Creative Commons geeks would love her stuff and release some more shareable tracks? I can only hope. So, if Allison Williams who maybe possibly was once in a band called Your Heart Breaks, sees this.. We have one simple message for you. We want more.
Note 2 : I also found this on myspace, and the song “New Orleans” there is lyrically the same.. but it’s so not the same. I’m really confused, and I want more of this quiet girl with a banjo. The girl singing on “Girls flocking to you” sounds sort of similar. It also looks like they may have worked with Matty Pop Chart in the past, and that’s very cool. Looking at the list of musicians, described as “Rotating lineup around the country members:” this is starting to remind me of Broken Social Scene.. and I love Broken Social Scene.

I heard this on your Revolution, and also went out on a search for more, more, more.
So, if anyone finds out if our mystery woman is Allison Williams I’d love to hear about it as well.
Have you ever check out the netlabel I am running with Cezary Ostrowski DiSfish?
I emailed the folks at Romeg Records, and they pointed me to http://www.myspace.com/theforgemountaindiggers, which is Allison Williams’ latest project.
Having listened to “Ol’ Jawbone”, IMO it doesn’t sound particularly much like the vocalist in the Your Heart Breaks track (but then she was singing very quietly, so I might be mistaken). In either case, “The Forge Mountain Diggers” sound very unlike Your Heart Breaks and don’t (again, in IMHO) have the same charm that the NOLA track has.
Thanks for the research Rikard. It’s much appreciated.
Yup, that’s our Allison! Ain’t she the bee’s knees? And yes; the Forge Mtn Diggers are no ‘Your Heart Breaks’. We are decidedly on a traditional antique country music path and have just completed tracks for an upcoming CD.
She has a better grasp of the rock concept than probably anybody playing Old Time Music these days; our Angus Young, if you will.
For the sake of responding to this post, I know she’s been whittling away at some recent original material a’la “Moonshine & Mud” & NOLA; but unfortunately I don’t how close to release she is with that stuff.

Thanks a lot for shedding some light on this. It’s fantastic to know for sure who it was we were fawning over, and that there’s a prospect for more.
hey, i can shed more light on this. Allison Williams was in the band for one tour. We recorded a four song ep together. This song Nola in question is played and sung by me, clyde, from your heart breaks. Allison lives in NC and isnt in the band anymore. Your heart breaks had a new record out on Plan-it-x. that might help.
