When Norteamericanos think of the music of Mexico there is a tendency to get caught up in stereotypes. It is important to remember that Mexico is a sophisticated and diverse society. Lady Bombon has a sound that shatters the stereotypes. This duo dishes out an edgy brand of pop that challenges a listener’s expectations. Lady Bombon is Chuchelas (the boy) and Hongo (the girl). The song, Eee-Ooo appeared on a Comfort Stand release called Stereo-Sonico (csr062). The release featured 4 songs by Lady Bonbom and 7 from another project featuring Chuchelas and Sebastian Comelli peforming under the name Gigaboy.
Chuchelas and Hongo describe their approach to their music and performance:
“…taking music seriously also means playing for fun, living in the moment and making that moment feel better. Such musical play involves experimentation–developing sounds unlike the other music out there. Fun and games are a part of Lady Bombon’s visual look, too–the band performs in wild costumes that rhyme with their wide range of musical influences. “

A mi punto de vista esta banda tiene un concepto diferente al que estamos acostumbrados, la vanguardia es lo que caracteriza a Lady bombon, a mi en lo perosnal me gusta mucho y considero que la frescura que proyectan en el ecenario es unica! aparte de que los quiero mucho con lo poco que tengo de conocerlos, me caen super son divertidos, y aparte el look que manejan me encanta!

Pay attention closely. Mexican contemporary music is no mariachi and/or bolero since long ago, the way björk isn’t icelandic folk tunes and sepultura ain’t batucada nor tropicalia. Lady Bombon takes you to the dance floor as Pizzicato Five would; as any DFA inbreed, and Lady Bombon is one top of many icebergs shaping youth music in this country with the same poliedric forms you’d expect from bands in Europe or the States. Thanks a lot, consumer technology, and mysp: at long last, mexican music is to figure outside stupid Latino Sabroso gibberish (is Blonde Redhead italian tarantella sung in jap? did you know the band has two italians and a jap?). Go Sintheticooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Con la música de Hongo y Chuchelas, la diversión está asegurada. Hagan lo posible por conseguir su disco Chicos Modernos, que pronto será de culto. Hay en él desde el funk electrónico de “Lady flower”, el electropunk de “Anybody but u” y hasta un coqueteo surfero en “Señorita beach”.

Yes! I agree! That is why it was very nice to have Lady Bombon on Comfort Stand. I love the music they make and both Chuchelas and Hongo are very nice.
