The Brooklyn-based keyboard trio Au Revoir Simone create beautiful harmonies that lift your spirits and dance in your head for days. Au Revoir Simone members Erika Forster, Annie Hart, and Heather D’Angelo are wrapping up a tour with We Are Scientists and The Double so check them out if you are in New York (tonight) or Northampton on July 1 or Boston on July 2. They are supporters of the Creative Commons project and Annie has recorded a podcasting promo. While I could say that it was difficult to choose a song from their debut CD Verses of Comfort, Assurance and Salvation (which is lovingly silkscreened), I would be lying because I kept coming back to Through the Backyards which has been in constant rotation on my iPod. It has grown on me and I hope that it will grow on you and provide you with assurance, comfort, and maybe even salvation.

Wow! Beautiful, Haunting sounds. Tomorrow night they’re playing right in my neck of the woods. I might try to make it to the show. Nice choice.
Yeah wow. Nice choice & nice write up. : )
Thanks. I was very happy to find them and I hope that I can get to see them soon.
One would think I am too old to care this much about new music… often my student do… but I try to tell them, I am not so old as you are so very young! This music is part of what refreshes and rejouvinates. (Besides, with the ever incresing life expectancy I’m barely middle age.)
A slow ride home, an unexpected interview/concert while browsing through the radio chaos*, and now I love Au Revoir Simone. I am even still chortling with glee (on the inside, of course) at the name.
Beautiful, ladies, Beautiful!
