Day 222: The Bran Flakes - Super Dance Party

August 10th, 2006 by Chris Campbell

The Bran Flakes - BouncesWith quirky samples and skillful mixing, The Bran Flakes create unique sonic journeys that remind me of my youthful consumption of pop culture. The Bran Flakes are the mysterious duo of Otis Fodder and Mildred Pitt with a larger array of similarly strange characters for their live shows. Otis was the driving force behind the Comfort Stand Recordings netlabel which has an almost overwhelming array of free Creative Commons-licensed music to enjoy and share. Mildred is part of the very cool Library Science and also hates your SUV. I discovered The Bran Flakes through the Comfort Stand Recordings release of “I Remember When I Break Down“, which was originally a cassette. Now I’m very proud to share “Super Dance Party” from the Happi Tyme Records CD “Bounce“. The Bran Flakes have track coming up on the Oglio Records CD “The Happy Electropop Music Machine” and you can see (and hear) Otis in a DJ set in San Francisco at Recombinant Media Labs on August 29, 2006 and Jean Jacques Perrey & Dana Countryman promote the CD. Now turn it up and kick off your own Super Dance Party.
